I’ve gotten to where I can spot rental cars around town very easily. One, they’re usually from another state (and no one comes to this town unless they have to). Two, they’ve got the little bar code I.D. tags in their window somewhere. And three, they’re always a certain type of car. That car, around here at least, is the Nissan Altima - current generation, in total base model trim.
I’d say for every 10 of these I see, 7 or 8 are rentals. How about you? What’s always a rental in your area?

Do people even buy these? I don’t think people actually buy these. They’re literally all rentals.

Nissans. Mainly base model Altimas here too. I see tons of them and they all have the barcode. I dont think dealers really keep them on the lots for regular customers. Lots of Sentras and Rogues too. Also I don’t think I’ve seen a current generation Maxima that wasn’t a rental yet.

They're surprisingly popular in California.

Any base model Chevy Sonic.
Any Chevy Spark found outside the blackened heart of a city will be either a rental car or owned/driven by retirees.
Chrysler 200. Do they even sell these to actual people? How do they sell them as used renal cars? Is it possible to discount them enough?
Cars with yellow stickers on their plates in Arizona.
Anything registered in AZ or OR that isn’t in the state (see U-Haul).
I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of.
